THE SONGS THAT GOT AWAY – The music of Harold Arlen.

Harold Arlen – the man is an enigma. The songs are famous.

Harold Arlen wrote over 500 songs, sung by Lena Horne, Peggy Lee, Ethel Waters and the incomparable Judy Garland. Women who all had their own stories of tragedy and survival.

In this premiere work, Allen gives  a performance tour de force, exploring the music Arlen wrote, and the women who sang his music.

Featuring Stormy Weather, Blues in the Night, The Man that got Away and the iconic ‘Over the Rainbow’ this acclaimed new show will premiere as part of the Hayes Theatre Co Cabaret Season in Sydney: Saturday June 7th 8.30pm and  Sunday June 8th 6.30pm.

It will then be part of the 2014 Adelaide Cabaret Festival: 7pm Thursday June 19th and 7.30pm Friday June 20th.
